OFSTED (The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills). OFSTED is responsible for inspecting the standards of schools, colleges, childcare and social care in England. Ensuring the children are happy. healthy and making progress. Our last inspection of was in October 2017. OFSTED graded our school as Good. Inspectors made judgements on a scale: outstanding (grade 1); good(2); requires improvement (3); inadequate (4).

We are proud to say that we have been awarded Healthy School Status, which shows that we have a commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles for the whole school community.
Healthy schools focuses on four core areas and our Health Schools Coordinator Sarah Moran has led a lot of work in raising awareness, and helping to embed the principles into every day school life. These areas are:

  • Personal, Social & Health Education
  • Healthy Eating
  • Physical Activity
  • Emotional Health & Wellbeing

The Bristol Standard is a self-evaluation framework which Battledown has used to improve on our previous best. It involves working together on developments to improve outcomes for all children and families.

In using the Bristol Standard, Battledown’s practitioners have been part of a process that protects and celebrates the wonder of childhood through well-informed and reflective practice.
